This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed was a heartfelt celebration of one of motorsport’s most influential figures — Gordon Murray. From the McLaren F1 to the revolutionary GMA T.50, Murray’s vision has shaped automotive performance for decades, and the 2025 FOS made him the centrepiece of its world-famous hill climb and paddocks.

A Tribute Like No Other
The Festival showcased an unrivalled collection of Murray’s creations, including the Brabham BT46B "fan car", the McLaren MP4/4, and the full GMA lineup — the T.50, T.33, and the all-new T.50s RML. A dedicated Gordon Murray paddock allowed fans to get up close with his most iconic designs, surrounded by stories, sketches, and the man himself.

Design Meets Performance
Crowds were treated to the spine-tingling sound of the Cosworth V12 as the T.50 and T.33 roared up the Hill in demonstration runs. The T.50s, built purely for the track, stunned with its raw speed and engineering purity — a true embodiment of Murray’s "lightweight-first" philosophy.

Legends and Newcomers Share the Stage
While Gordon Murray’s influence anchored the event, manufacturers continued to push the boundaries. Ferrari, Porsche, and Aston Martin brought fresh models, while EV pioneers like Lotus and Rimac offered a glimpse into the future. But it was Murray’s timeless approach to innovation that truly stole the show.

A Masterclass in Engineering Legacy
Speeches, interviews, and surprise appearances from past collaborators celebrated not just the cars but the man behind them. Murray spoke candidly about his career, his design ethos, and his hopes for the next generation of engineers — many of whom were clearly in the crowd, hanging on every word.

Final Thoughts
Goodwood FOS 2025 was more than a motorsport festival — it was a living museum, a symphony of speed, and above all, a tribute to a genius who redefined how cars are built. Gordon Murray’s legacy was not just honoured — it was lived, heard, and felt by every engine rev and every cheering fan at Goodwood.
